TURKISH SLIDE FEDERATION PRESIDENCY

2009-2014

HISTORY

            Luge sport (bobsleigh, skeleton, luge), which operated under the Ski and Sleigh Federation for approximately 3 years from 2003 to 2006, was later affiliated with this federation by establishing the Developing Sports Branch Federation with the ministry approval dated 21.12.2006 and numbered 350. He remained within this federation for about 2 years but did not have any activities.

           Turkish National Olympic Committee, in its letter dated 12.03.2008, requested that the luge branch be established as a separate federation so that athletes in the luge branch, which is an Olympic sport, can participate in international competitions. It was decided to separate its branches and establish it as the Turkish Luge Federation and the Turkish Luge Federation was established on 23.05.2008.

           Erol ÖZER of this newly established federation  He founded it as its first president. In a short time, he organized tasks such as connecting the bobsled federation to international federations, establishing and managing relations, ensuring that the International Federation meeting was held in Istanbul in order to promote Turkey, selecting young athlete candidates and the coaches who would train them and starting training abroad. 

            With the support of Kars Governor Eyüp TEPE, he ensured that Turkey's first Natural Toboggan Track was built in Kars Sarıkamış district - without the support of the Ministry of Sports.

            In Turkey <Kızak> This branch, called 'Luge', is performed as three separate sporting activities in the world, namely 'Luge', 'Bobsleigh' and 'Skeleton'. Among these branches, the national federations related to the Luge branch are affiliated to the International Luge Federation under the name FIL (International Luge Federation). National federations in the branches named Bobsleigh and Skeleton are affiliated with the International Federation called FIBT (International and Tobogganing Federation).
